These are a selections of production stills, taken from a short film, created and produced by both myself and fellow student Jodie Clamp.

Our Piece entitled ‘And Mum’ is a short film about a young boy who loses his mum. It is an experimental film thus we have not adopted many of the codes and conventions of a standard mainstream film. As with many experimental films ours has been made with an extremely low budget, and with few people involved in its making.

Our moving image short has been influenced by the work of Tim Burton, his films tend often to be idiosyncratic and strange and adopt a gothic ambience. The 2006 Richard Linklater film ‘A Scanner Darkly’ also influenced the making of our production.

The film takes a really simple narrative, about the effects of a child’s parent dying and then tells this story through a series of flashbacks. We chose not to adapt a common linear narrative, but instead used a nonfigurative one.
